The Maurice Wick Memorial Trophy was named after Maurice Wick, founder and long time Chairman and then Honorary Life President of the League, who passed away in 2015. It was introduced the following year. The trophy has been donated by the SMETA Club, where Maurice was a member and a pool player for many years.

The competition has had different formats in the first three years of its existence but, from now on, will be settled as being played in one night on a simple single frame knock out basis with a best of 3 final with each registered team permitted to enter one player.
