Draws & Results 2023

This year we are keeping the mini-competition format for the early rounds of the Pairs competition on a similar basis to previously which we hope people will appreciate. We have 24 entries and the competition will run as follows.

On Pairs 1 in the calendar, Monday 26th June, there will be 8 mini-competitions (known as mini-comps) (with 3 pairs in each). These will work on a round robin basis as follows:

Match 1 = Pair 1 v Pair 2
Match 2 = Pair 3 v Pair 1
Match 3 = Pair 2 v Pair 3

All matches will play all 3 frames. If a pair wins both their matches, they will win the mini-comp. 

If all 3 pairs each win one match, the mini-comp winners will be the pair with the highest frame difference, in other words if one match finishes 3-0 and the other matches finish 2-1, the pair that has won a match 3-0 will have the best frame difference and win the mini-comp. If 2 pairs win 3-0 and the third wins 2-1, the 2 pairs with the 3-0 wins will play a single frame sudden death play-off. If all 3 pairs win a match by the same score there will have to be a round robin single frame play off with the pair winning both their frames winning the mini-comp. On paper, this probably sounds more complicated than it is, so I hope it’s clear.

The winners of each of the mini-comps will automatically qualify for the Quarter Finals on Monday 6th November. The winners of each of those will advance to the Semi-Finals to be played on the same night with the winners advancing to the Final which will take place on Monday 20th November. The draw is continuous so the Semi Finals will be Winner Mini-Comp 1 v Winner Mini-Comp 2 etc.

Organisers of each Mini-Comp will be provided with a form to record exact details of all match results for the records. 

Details of venue and organiser for each Mini-Comp will be circulated shortly. 

Please note that the format of this competition again this year means that NO postponements will be permitted. However, a team may replace a player who is not available up to the start of the first match – please inform the League Secretary and the organiser of your Mini-Comp if this proves necessary.

Pairs Quarter-Finals (QF) and Semi-Finals (SF) – Monday 6th November:

 

Please bear in mind that all Captains, Vice-Captains and senior players in attendance may be needed to help organisers and referee matches at their venue, especially as some of the co-organisers named below are involved in the competitions and/or will be supporting their own players still involved and, in the case of the League Secretary, may not be able to referee due to his ongoing recovery.

 

Please note that no postponements will be permitted on these nights and, as all these players have already played in the competition, no replacement players will be allowed if a player can’t make it – these two rounds in each competition MUST be completed on the one night.

 

The Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals will all be matches played over the best of 3 frames. The winners of the Semi-Finals will play the Finals of the competitions to be played on Monday 20th November and which will, as usual, be played over the best of 5 frames.

 

Please play all fixtures in the order listed with players sharing table fees.
